Lyrik's Song 4

Chapter 1
Lyrik

“You good in there?” Gia was on the other side of the stall…waiting on me to answer her. I couldn’t believe that I was pregnant again.

I walked out of the stall, pregnancy test in hand. My reflection in the mirror looked like I had just saw a ghost. I was pregnant yet again and I wasn’t prepared. I was barely even able to keep my grades up this semester. It got to the point where I had to switch to online classes. Everything was happening so fast…school, marriage, children. I was barely into my junior year and had already been through so much.

Claire and I were no longer in touch due to her run in with Tyrek. She refused to associate with me anymore and she didn’t want to ruin her budding relationship. Her life was more important – and I respected it.

My relationship with Gia was ironic. She was like my little sister; although, her sister didn’t like me when she was alive. Finding out that Duke and Levi were cousins only sealed our bond.

“Lyrik?” Gia’s voice was now shaky with uncertainty. She was just as nervous as me. I handed her my pregnancy test and her face lit up with excitement. Her daughter was about to have a cousin to play with, to bond with, to grow with. “Congratulations!!!”

“Congratulations? Gia, I’m pregnant and they still haven’t caught Tyrek. Duke is in the hospital. Levi is on edge. This is the most inappropriate time for me to be pregnant right now.”

“Either way, you’re pregnant. You gonna have to deal with it unless you plan on getting rid of the baby.”

“I’m not getting rid of my baby… I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I know that I should be happy but…”

“You’re overthinking it because your mind is still on Tyrek’s crazy ass. Levi is not going to let him harm you and I’m not going to let him harm you either. We’re a family. Hell, the police not doing shit at this point so… I think that we should end this nigga once and for all. I’m not letting Trinity grow up in fear because the cops can’t get a grip on this nigga.”

Gia was right. We had been dealing with Tyrek for about a year and a half and nothing has been done. He hasn’t been arrested once. Nobody could find or detain him, and he was slowly jumping up to the America’s Most Wanted list.

“I guess we’re both on one accord as far as Tyrek goes. I can’t believe I’m pregnant again.” I turned my back against the sink and put my face in my palms. Gia tried to hug and comfort me, but it wasn’t working. I had a lot to think about with not enough time to think about it.
